**By Flight**: catch a flight for a faster commute to Mumbai or Pune. Flights are naturally more expensive, and you can pay between ₹2,500 to ₹5,000 for a budget airline ticket, depending on the booking times.
**Step 2: From Mumbai/Pune to Malshej Ghat**
**By Train and Bus**: if you’re coming to Malshej Ghat from Mumbai, take a local train to Kalyan and ensure to make a rigorous journey with a state transport bus or shared jeep. The highly-dependent journey takes about 2-3 hours, subject to road traffic and weather conditions.

The Trek: What to Expect
Day 1: Pick up, transfer to the hotel and acclimatization.
Once you are at the base village, stay a day to acclimate the climate gain altitude and set boundary lines. It might seem trivial, but it is indeed very important (especially if you are travelling from the plains of Hyderabad). Spend this day trekking around the village, meeting locals and preparing for your trek.
**Accomodation: ** There is a basic homestay in the village that provides just bed and meals. It is expected to be priced between ₹500 and ₹1,000 per night with meals. Camping is also available for those seeking a more rugged experience. This is for those who even take their own tent and sleeping bag.
**Food:** Local families in Maharashtra serve traditional meals like bhakri (flatbread made from millet Jowar or bajra) with thecha and pithla. This will take about ₹150-₹200 per meal.
**Day 2: The Trek Begins**
Forest Essentials Sun Protection – This one is a little expensive, but it's worth every penny if you need high SPF sun protection due to over exposure or any allergy- **Early Start:** Starting your trek early in the morning preferably 6 am will shield yourself from glare of hot summer days as well prolong day light.
- **Trail:** The path to Kalu Waterfall is around 10–12 KM long and will take you approximately 5–6 hours from the base. Starting off, the trail leads to a dense forest cover and rolling hills that are easy to climb. It is a bit rocky at some points so you can use trekking shoes.
